Making Progress Everyday

Monday, June 21st, 2004

So Verizon charged my father too much on a phone bill. There was an MCI collect call on the bill that my father claims he never accepted. So he wants me to take care of it.

I wrote Verizon the following:

I was billed $12.22 for a two minute collect call from Toronto on the morning of April 23rd, at 6:29am. Trust me when I say that I would surely have remembered such a rude awakening. I never received this call, and obviously someone has erred. I don’t care whether it was your fine company or MCI, I refuse to accept this grave injustice. I am willing to pay the rest of the bill, for services rendered, of which I did indeed partake. The $12.22 you have charged me for this fictional collect call, however, will remain in my posession until I am in a cold, cold grave.

Verizon wrote back today:

Thank you for contacting the Verizon eCenter, where we are committed to helping you make progress every day.

This message is in response to your inquiry concerning billing. You inquired about other company charges.

Unfortunately, Verizon is not authorized to handle any inquiries on behalf of another company
